The Somerville Bicycle Committee was established by City Council ordinance on February 8, 2001. The Somerville Bicycle Committee works to promote bicycling as a means of transportation through events and programs, and to advocate for the implementation of 'best-practice' infrastructure and policy in our advisory capacity to the City's Mobility Team.
Activities include reviewing City plans for road construction, drafting and reviewing bicycle-related ordinances, participating in public events, putting on events and rides, creating materials to encourage bicycling in the city, and working with other bicycling organizations at the local, state, and national level.
The Full Committee typically meets on the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8PM. All meetings are currently hybrid, and meeting info is posted on https://www.somervillema.gov/events in advance of each meeting. Meetings are open to the public, and volunteers and help are always welcome!
